Angel Sapida

Angel joined the Vallejo Aquatics Club when she was seven years old. During that time, she achieved many Junior Olympic times standards, Sectional times standards, VJO team records, and received multiple Sr. Open Awards. In addition to swimming for VJO, Angel also swam all four years for the American Canyon Varsity Swim Team. Angel was selected as Team Captain for the AC Varsity Swim Team and also won the Most Improved Award as well as the Coaches Award. Additionally, she played on AC’s Varsity Water Polo team for four years and was selected as Team Captain of that team as well. Angel also played two seasons for the Solano County Water Polo team.
Angel also excels academically. She graduated with a GPA of 4.05 from American Canyon High School while concurrently taking 32 hours of college credit at Napa Valley College, earning a transfer GPA of 3.76.
The selection committee was impressed with Angel’s dedication to service.  She has volunteered her time to support the community through Saint Basil Church, Kaiser Permananete, Solano County Fairgrounds, and Rocket City Math League.
Angel’s work experience includes being a lifeguard and swim instructor for the GVRD and also being an assistant coach for VJO. This may be where Angel shines the most. She takes all of the determination, strong work ethic and confidence which made her such an accomplished athlete and shares it with the young swimmers she coaches.
Angel will be attending the California State University of Los Angeles as a pre-nursing major with a minor in child development in the hopes of pursuing a career as a pediatric nurse.
