The 2025 scholarship award recipient is Benicia resident, Kayden Shalhout.
Kayden Shalhout is an exceptional student athlete who excelled in Varsity Swimming and Waterpolo at American Canyon High School. She received numerous leadership awards and graduated with a weighted 3.9 GPA, excelling in AP Biology, World History, U.S. History, Language, Literature, Statistics, and Government.
Kayden’s dedication extended to VJO Aquatics, where she competed as a swimmer and served the community as a junior coach. Her time in the pool shaped her philosophy on personal growth:
"As any great athlete knows, understanding the difference between excuses and accountability is life-changing. I pushed myself past my limits and took accountability for my growth."
This fall, Kayden will attend Pacific Union College to pursue a degree in Nursing, participating in the work-study program as a lifeguard.
